The Butler Lady Bears’ postseason run came to a close Friday night, but not before adding another strong chapter to what is becoming one of the premier programs in women’s basketball.

Butler started their post-season journey against El Dorado Springs and came away with a 47-40 victory to advance to a District Championship match. The Lady Bears set the tone early in that opening contest, building a 14-7 lead after the first quarter and holding steady the rest of the way. Gabbie Carmichael led the scoring effort with 13 points for the Bears, while Kylee Dubray added 12 to help secure the seven-point win.

That early victory moved Butler into the title game, where they met the Lady Tigers of Skyline — a perennial state contender.

Skyline wasted little time finding its rhythm. The Lady Tigers came out red hot, connecting on 8 of 10 attempts from beyond the arc in the opening half, creating separation that Butler was unable to ever fully erase. The Lady Bears continued to compete throughout the night, but ultimately fell 74-50, finishing as district runner-up.

The loss closes Butler’s season at 21-7, a record that reflects the consistency and effort shown throughout the winter. A district championship appearance and 21 wins mark a year that will be remembered with pride.

Congratulations to the Lady Bears on a tremendous season and a hard-fought postseason run.
