After suffering a 61-23 loss to the Appleton City Bulldogs earlier this season, Hume met the same opponent again with a district championship on the line. This time, the outcome flipped.
The Lady Hornets claimed the title with a 48-41 victory, avenging the regular-season defeat and securing their spot in sectional play. In a matchup that stayed tight throughout, Hume found the answers it needed late to seal the seven-point win and bring home the hardware.
Appleton City’s season concludes at an impressive 22-6. The Lady Bulldogs put together a standout year and proved all winter long why they were among the area’s best. But postseason basketball often writes its own script, and this chapter belonged to Hume.
The championship night was made even more memorable by a milestone moment. Junior Baileigh Rogers eclipsed 1,000 career points in the victory, reaching the mark while helping lift her team to a district crown — an accomplishment that reflects both her individual consistency and the collective success of the Hornets.
Both programs delivered outstanding seasons, but it is Hume who continues forward. With a district title secured and sectional play ahead, the Lady Hornets are still writing their story.
