Momentum could not have arrived at a better time for the Archie Lady Whirlwinds.

Riding a 12-game winning streak into district play, Archie continued its late-season surge by capturing the district championship, proving once again that February basketball can redefine an entire season.

The Whirlwinds opened postseason action with a commanding 74-40 victory over Lakeland, advancing with confidence into the title matchup. Waiting for them was an Osceola Lady Indians squad that had been equally impressive. Osceola stormed into the championship after a 73-18 opening-round win and a 46-36 victory over Midway, carrying an eight-game winning streak and the advantage of playing on its home floor.

But streaks and surroundings were not enough to slow Archie.

In a tightly contested championship battle, the Lady Whirlwinds held firm and secured a 52-48 victory to claim the district crown. The win extended Archie’s streak to 12 straight and showcased a team hitting its stride when it matters most.

Lexie Andrews led the scoring effort with 17 points in the championship. Shelby Newport dominated the glass with 15 rebounds, while also setting a new Archie career rebounding record with 775 boards. Malayna Bear added 11 points, and Reagan Tenholder contributed 10 to round out a balanced scoring performance.

With the district title secured and momentum fully on their side, the Lady Whirlwinds are carrying confidence into the next stage of postseason play. Archie is not just winning — they are doing it at exactly the right time.
