Butler High School will host its First Annual Blue Out Night on January 20, with this year’s event dedicated to Autism Awareness. The night is designed to bring the community together in support, inclusion, and understanding, with fans encouraged to pack the gym and wear blue.
This special evening would not be possible without the incredible support of Butler High School. The administration, athletic staff, and athletic director have been instrumental in making the night happen, helping turn an idea into an event that the entire community can rally behind.
The First Annual Blue Out Night is being held in partnership with C&S Graphics and O3 Customs, and the cause carries personal meaning. Owner and founder Cody Morris is autistic, and he hopes to use his platform as a local business owner to show kids on the spectrum that success is possible and they are not alone.
Rather than focusing solely on awareness, Morris said the goal of the night is connection — creating space for honest dialogue and demonstrating to young people on the spectrum that limitations placed on them do not define their future. He shared that growing up, he was often told he would never be social or able to do certain “normal” things, a message he hopes to help change.
“I want kids on the spectrum to see that you can prove people wrong and still do great things,” Morris said. “If any kid ever hears those same negative remarks, I want them to know that anything is possible. You’ve got this.”
This year’s Blue Out Night also emphasizes unity across school lines. Whether fans wear Butler blue or Drexel blue, the message remains the same — the night is for everyone, and the focus is on showing support through presence and participation.
Organizers are encouraging the community to fill the stands on January 20, wear blue, and be part of a night that goes beyond the scoreboard. The event serves as a powerful reminder that high school gyms can be places not only of competition, but of compassion, understanding, and shared purpose.
