Two young athletes from Butler earned top finishes at the AAU Region 16 Track and Field Qualifier, held recently in Springfield, Missouri. Region 16 includes top competitors from Missouri, Arkansas, and Oklahoma, with the top five finishers in each event earning a spot at the AAU Junior Olympics in Houston, Texas.

Cam Davidson competed in the 13-year-old division and secured a 4th place finish in the 100-meter hurdles, qualifying him for the national event should he choose to attend.

Davidson wasn’t the only Butler Bear to shine at the meet. Brandon Hammett continued to build on an already impressive track résumé by earning 3rd place in the 3000-meter run, also earning a qualifying spot at the Junior Olympics.

Both Davidson and Hammett represented Butler with pride and showcased their talent on a highly competitive regional stage. Congratulations to these two outstanding athletes on their achievements and potential opportunity to compete in Houston.
