While the Lady Bears set out to extend a winning streak, and did so successfully, the Butler Men traveled to Hume in hopes of snapping a streak. The Butler Bears have had some struggles this year, in-part due to a myriad of unforeseen injuries, which have led a 3-14 year thus for the Bears. The Hornets record was one of relatively equal value, so the Bears were hoping to go into a Hume and snap a 7 game loosing streak.

Jesse Carter was red hot for the Bears in the opening 8, sinking 3 triples in the first period. However, other than Carter’s 9, the only other Butler basket in the first came from Davidson and the Bears found themselves trailing the Hornets 12-11 at the end of one.

In the second, the Bears defense stiffened up and held Hume to just 3 points, all of which came from the free throw line. At the break, the Bears lead 20-15.

Out of the locker room, Jake Chandler scored his first basket of the game, and then a flood of scoring at the hands of the junior ensued. Chandler racked up 13 points in the quarter, and continued to swing the momentum in Butler’s favor. At the conclusion of the third, the Bears led the Hornets 35-21.

The fourth quarter would be another even quarter with each team scoring 8 points. The Bears had built up enough of a lead in the middle two quarters to grab a 43-29 win, a snap their loosing streak.

Jake Chandler led all scores with 15 points. Jesse Carter ended his night with 11 points.

For Hume, Nate Harris had 12 points.
