For the first round of the Archie Tournament, the Whirlwinds were matched up against the Drexel Bobcats. The Whirlwinds came into their own a tournament with a 3-6 record, while Drexel came in parading an 11-4 record.
After the first 8 minutes, the Whirlwinds caught the Bobcats and bolted to a 17-10 lead. Drexel would play the Whirlwinds a bit closer in the 2nd quarter, but Archie still outscored Drexel 15-14 in the 2nd and held a 32-24 advantage after the first half.
In the 3rd, Drexel finally won a quarter 19-15, but still found themselves trailing the Whirlwinds 47-43. In the final period, Archie held the Bobcats to 9 points, while they scored 16 of their own and claimed a 63-52 victory.
Tristan Leeper of Archie led the game with 23 points, 8 rebounds, and 2 steals. Baylor Duckworth racked up 15 points, 5 assists and 4 steals in the contest, while Tanner Thompson had 12 points, 9 rebounds, and 2 assists.
For Drexel, Kolbi Nichols had 22 points, while Cole Kimbrough pitched in 19 points, 6 rebounds, 2 assists.
After the round 1 victory, Archie went on two fall to the #1 seeded (and eventual tournament champions) Harrisonville Wildcats 65-48. In round 3, Archie fell to Adrian 63-33.
Drexel went on to beat Hume 50-32 in round two, and then fall to Lone Jack 45-41 in the final round.
