On Friday (1.24) the Miami Eagles basketball teams hosted the Humansville. The Girls were first in action as the 3-12 Eagles team was taking on a winless Humansville squad.
After 8 minutes, this match had all the makings of a close game, as the were still knotted up at 12 points a piece. Humansville would carrie a narrow 28-23 lead into halftime.
Out of the half, the game would still be tightly contested, with a score of 39-33, still in favor of Humansville, going into the fourth and final quarter. In the final period of play, the Miami Laides really ratcheted up the defensive pressure and held Humansville to only 4 total points in the quarter. The Eagles defensive effort let would lift them to a 45-43 victory.
Fairbairn for the Eagles had 18 points and 6 rebounds, and really made her living at the free throw line where she went 12/14 on the night. Clayton also recorded 12 for Miami.
Kylee Proctor of Humansville led all scores with 23 points.
The Miami men did not fair quite as well, as the 6-9 Eagles faced the 6-11 Tigers. The Tigers jumped out to 27-12 lead in the first, and carried it throughout the game. The Eagles Men would fall with a final of 35-68.
Wayde Cameron had 11 points for the Eagles, while Gauge Filtingberger had 10.
