The second round of the Appleton City Basketball Tournament tipped off on Wednesday Night (1.15.2025). The Rich Hill Lady Tigers were slated to face the Miami Lady Eagles. Rich Hill would be looking to get back into the win column after dropping 4 consecutive games, coming after a 5 game win streak to open the season (5-4). The Lady Eagles came into the night with a 3-8 win-loss ledger.

A tightly contested beginning 8 minutes would have the Lady Tigers atop the Eagles with a score of 16-12. In the 2nd quarter, Mickey Downs of the Eagles dominated, scoring all of Miami’s 16 points and pushing the Lady Eagles to a 28-25.

Out of the locker room, Coach Coonce had his girls back in shape, as they were able to outscore Miami by 10 in the 3rd, reclaiming a 43-36 advantage. The Lady Tigers would continue their scoring barrage in the 4th, and end the game with a 63-48 win.

Maysi Miller of Rich Hill led all scoring with a spectacular 27 points in the contest. Lanie Phelps pitched in 11 points as well. The Tigers had 8 different ladies in the scorebook, it was a great team win for the Lady Tigers.

Mickey Downs had an impressive 26 points on the night, while Shelby Fairbairn had 12, and Audrey Clayton tallied 10.

The Rich Hill Lady Tigers will move on to face an 8-4 Montrose team who is coming off of a 57-28 victory over Lakeland. The Lady Blue Jays and Rich Hill will play on Friday, 1/17.
