In the first round of the Annual Appleton City Tournament the Rich Hill Tigers were slated to face the Hume Hornets in the 4-5 matchup. This matchup was expected to be a closely contested ballgame as the Lady Tigers came in with a 5-3 record and looking to snap a 3 game loosing streak after rattling off 5 wins in a row to open the season. The Hornets came into the game touting a 4-5 record. This would be a rematch from an early December game where the Lady Hornets traveled to the Dome and walked away with a 44-42 loss to the Lady Tigers.
After the first period came to a conclusion, the 4 seeded Tigers found themselves on top of the 5th seed Lady Hornets with a score of 17-6. Kenzee Snider of Hume would come alive in the second period drilling 3 shots from distance and scoring 11 points in the quarter which would propel the Hornets to a 25-24 lead at the break.
In the second half the Hornets never let off the throttle as they cruised to a 51-38 win over the Lady Tigers, bringing the season series to 1-1.
Kenzee Snider led all scoring with 18 points on the night, including 4 triples. Bailegh Rogers tallied 11 points for the Hornets on the night.
Maysi Miller led the scoring effort for the Tigers with 11 points.
On the mens side of things, Rich Hill and Hume would once again face off, this time with the Tigers as the 1 seed with a 8-2 record, and the Hornets as the 8 seed with a record of 1-7.
These two teams also faced off back in December where the Tigers walked away with a 75-22 triumph.
This game was about would you expect from the 1-8 meeting, as the Tigers jumped out to a 21-11 lead over the Hornets. The rest of the game would continue much of the same, as the Tigers cruised to an 81-32 rout of the Hornets.
Rich Hill Senior Zane Becker led all scoring with 22 points, while Dillon Coonce was not far behind with 19 points of his own, and Lane Hardin contributed an impressive 17 points as well. The Tigers had a staggering 10 players score in the contest.
Hume was led by CJ Winston who had 14 points on the night.
