The Bears home-opener is underway! The 1-0 Butler Bears are hosting the improved Sherwood Marksmen.

The Marksmen took first possession and drove all the way down into the redzone until the Bears forced Sherwood to turn the ball over on downs with Brayden Jackson breaking a pass attempt by Kanzler on 4th down.

The Bears took over following the incompletion and put together a nice drive themselves, capped off with a 34 yard rushing touchdown from Kellen Long.

With just under 3 minutes to go in the half, Ferrel for the Marksmen would catch a 23 yard pass to put Sherwood on the board for the first time with a score of 8-6 in favor of your Bears.

At the conclusion of the half, the score would remain 8-6.

Long led the Bears with 81 yards and a TD on 9 carries and would tack on 23 yards through the air. Defensively, Lucas Davidson would secure an interception for Butler, and Long would pick up 6 solo tackles, while Wisdom grabbed 2 solos and 5 assists.

For Sherwood, Ferrel ran for 109 yards on 13 carries and snatched a TD on a 23 yard scree pass.
