On Saturday, the Archie Whirlwinds and Rich Hill Tigers would battle it out in the Archie Dome with the winner claiming the 3rd place hardware at the 94th Annual Archie Tournament.
The Tigers defense came out strong, holding the Whirlwinds to only 5 point in the opening quarter on their home court. The Tigers would more than double up Archie with a 11-5 score at the end of 1.
In the second quarter, Rich Hill would continue to smother the Whirlwinds defensively, holding them to a measly 8 points and carrying a 25-13 lead into the intermission.
The story would continue to be much of the same in the second half, until the Whirlwinds would finally score a little more, dropping 20 points in the 4th and final period but it would be too little, too late for the Archie squad.
The Rich Hill Tigers would take home the title of 3rd place with a 56-41 victory over the Archie Whirlwinds.
Dillon Coonce would lead all scoring on the night with 19. Zane Becker would add 13 for the Tigers as well. The Whirlwinds were led by Briar McIntire with 15.
Coonce, a junior for Rich Hill, was also named to the All-Tournament team.
